GSSA Hall of Fame Criteria
1) A Hall of Fame system is hereby established to honor those residents of the State of Georgia who have distinguished themselves by a high degree of proficiency in the sport of Skeet Shooting and/or‑ by major contributions to the promotion and welfare of the sport, exhibiting in the process a high degree of Sportsmanship and selflessness.
2) In order that the G.S.S.A. Hall of Fame be administered on a fair and consistent basis, free from temporary influences and to reflect the perspective of time, the following rules and guidelines for its administration and the selection of the recipient for such honors are hereby established.
A) Selection of persons to be honored shall be made by a committee composed of three (3) persons appointed by the President of the G.S.S.A.
i) One member of the committee shall be designated as Chairman and shall periodically report to the President on the committee's activities.
ii) Committee members shall serve a three (3) year term with one term expiring each year. The Committee shall be anonymous, known only to the President of the G.S.S.A.
B) All selections of persons to be inducted into the Hall of Fame shall be kept secret prior to induction and no committee member shall make public any nomination considered or divulge any information concerning the committee deliberations.
i) The selection(s) of the Hall of Fame Committee is/are final and are not open to review or veto.
C) The formal induction ceremony shall take place during the State Skeet Shooting Championships.
i) The major accomplishments of each inductee which had bearing upon their selection to the G.S.S.A Hall of Fame shall be included on the plaque or citation presented to the inductee.
D) A suitable plaque or picture shall be permanently displayed in whatever location shall be designated for that purpose by the Board of Directors of the G.S.S.A.
E) The number of persons selected to membership in the G.S.S.A Hall of Fame shall not exceed:
i) Three (3) inductees the first year of existence.
ii) Two (2) inductees each year thereafter. A lesser number may be selected in any year if the Committee so decides.
iii) It is recommended that at least one living person be selected each year.
3) In making the selection(s of the person(s) to be inducted into the G.S.S.A. Hall of Fame, the Selection Committee shall be guided by the following:
A) Shooting Proficiency
i) For individual shooting achievements over a period of time, any nominee considered must have a shooting record for a minimum of eight (8) or more years.
ii) Nominees shall have won a minimum of five (5) Championship titles, either, High Overall or Gun Championships, achieved All‑State Team status, accomplished any other major shooting feat, or any combination of the above totaling five (5) or more.
(1) For purposes of Hall of Fame consideration. Championships are defined as being:
(a) World Championships
(b) Zone Championships
(c) Open High Overall or Gun Championships at any other major shoot.
iii) Only Persons who have exhibited a high degree of sportsmanship in their shooting activities shall be considered regardless of their other shooting accomplishments.
B) Administrative Excellence
i) For outstanding work in Georgia Skeet Shooting management administration or promotion over a period of eight (8) or more years.
ii) Only persons who have exhibited a high degree of Sportsmanship in their administrative, managerial or promotional activities shall be considered.
C) Combination of Shooting Excellence and Administrative
Excellence
i) Persons who do not wholly qualify for induction under either A or B above may be considered based upon a combination of A and B above.
D) Other Requirements
i) All inductees shall have been residents of the State of Georgia for a period of eight (8) or more years.
ii) If a nominee is deceased or retired from serious competition, he/she will not be eligible for consideration until two (2) years after death or retirement.
iii) Any nominee who is still active in competition shall have only his record prior to the last two (2) years considered.
iv) A nominee who is considered but not selected may
be considered again at any time.
v) Industry Representatives shall be eligible for induction into the G.S.S.A. Hall of Fame if he/she qualifies under 3A, 3B, or 3C and the contributions under 3B or 3C were above and beyond the requirements of his/her salaried position.
